Sedus Stoll AG – the one-stop provider of office furnishings and workplace concepts – has built a brand new building to house a research and production facility for office furniture in direct proximity to its headquarters in Waldshut-Tiengen. The building forms a link between the housing estate at the edge of the parish of Dogern and Sedus Stoll AG company grounds. The facades are clad with fabric elements. Overlapping the individual facade cladding elements has made it possible to create different levels of transparency and translucency, depending on the standpoint of the observer and level of brightness, which almost bestow the building an air of immaterial lightness. A partially spiralling staircase leads from the foyer to the first floor plateau, which has been designed as a single open-plan space with an enclosed ‘conference room’ at its heart.
