Munich Expo

The 12 halls of Munich Expo each have a floor plan of 73 x 160 metres. Their roof construction is weight-minimised and consists of Polonceau lattice girders in tubular steel construction with supporting elements made of reinforced concrete. Werner Sobek was responsible for the structural engineering of the hall roofs.

Weight-Minimised Roof Structure in Tubular Steel Construction

Thanks to the column-free construction and heights of the halls between eleven and 16 metres, a generous and bright spatial effect was created. In addition, the ground-level halls are fully accessible and each has its own delivery zone, which allows for easy and flexible assembly and disassembly.
