KVA Waßmannsdorf

Water company Berliner Wasserbetriebe (BWB) have begun constructing and operating a new sewage sludge treatment plant at the Waßmannsdorf sewage works in Schönefeld, a municipality that borders Berlin.

Following its planned completion in 2025, the Waßmannsdorf sewage sludge facility (KVA) will join forces with the existing Berlin-Ruheleben sewage sludge treatment plant to provide sufficient capacity to thermally treat all of the sewage sludge produced in the German capital.

Checking Engineering

Building the new treatment plant involves the creation of six partial structures that consist of solid reinforced concrete or steel frame constructions. Each of these six structures will form either an independent part of a building or an independent section of the plant’s treatment works. Upon completion, the plant’s new buildings will perform a variety of functions, including serving as a multipurpose hall and as incineration and drying facilities.

IFT is responsible for checking engineering including construction supervision as part of the inspection (on behalf of checking engineer Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Konrad Hall).
