Campus Melaten

The Melaten Campus is an extension of the RWTH Aachen campus. It offers office, laboratory and research facilities for experts from industry and for scientists from various university institutes. The complex consists of two building parts, an L-shaped, 6-storey office building with a partial basement and a single-storey experimental hall with laboratory areas. A central foyer provides access to the building complex.

Maximum Variability and Flexibility

The office buildings are designed for maximum variability and flexibility to allow different uses with economical floor plan solutions. The load-bearing system was designed as a conventional reinforced concrete structure. Vertical loads are transferred via columns and walls; bracing is provided by the walls of the stairwell and technical cores. A perforated façade forms the building envelope. Large glass facades are located in the area of the foyer and the connecting bars.
