Terminal 3 Frankfurt Airport

A brand new terminal is being constructed at Frankfurt Airport on the site of a former US Air Base (home to the CargoCity South logistics hub today). Werner Sobek is responsible for carrying out a host of duties for this extraordinary project, ranging from the creation of draft plans and technical designs through to the production of tender documentation for planning the terminal’s facades.

The new terminal will include a check-in hall, airport security, border controls, the ‘Marketplace’ retail concourse, an arrivals zone and areas for baggage handling and baggage reclaim.

One of the Largest Infrastructure Projects in Europe

A vast assortment of facade technologies and materials (including steel, glass, aluminium, tiles, ceramic, natural stone and render) are being used to create the new terminal’s facades.

Upon completion, 19 million passengers will stroll through the Marketplace, relax in the lounges and arrive and depart via the terminal’s three gates every year. During its construction, Terminal 3 will be one of the largest infrastructure projects in Europe.
