MZE KIT Campus Karlsruhe

The campus at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) was extended with the addition of a new, multistorey building. The external dimensions of the building are 80 m × 30 m. The overhanging projection of the upper storey of approximately 6 m represents a particularly forceful feature.

New Building with High Dynamic Characteristics

In addition to office areas it is envisaged that the new building comprising a basement storey and five upper storeys will also accommodate highly sensitive scanning electron microscopes. That led to a significant increase in the demands placed on the dynamic characteristics of the building, which had to be taken into consideration early in the planning phase.
