Huawei – Research and Development Center

Werner Sobek was responsible for the structural engineering of the new Huawei Hangzhou Research and Development Center in the capital of the Chinese province of Zhejiang. TThe master plan took into account the water axis of a lake for the arrangement of the free-standing building modules..

Building Modules Aligned with Water Axis

The total of six buildings for research and administration were constructed along a water axis. The ensemble is complemented by two smaller modules for service units and a central canteen.

The main buildings have green inner courtyards, a continuation of the surrounding park landscape. Transparent building bases allow the architecture to nestle into the landscape in a flowing transition.
