The roof constructions of the exhibition halls of the New Exhibition Centre Hamburg consist of a modular system. The latter is composed of two major elements: on the one hand there is a steel beam grid which serves as a substructure; on the other hand there is a succession of several wooden barrel vaults which are supported by the steel grid. This modular systems allows to build a simple, efficient and cost-saving structure for all exhibition halls that can easily be adapted to the varying geometries of the individual halls.
