Located on a prominent spot in the heart of Hong Kong and its renowned Victoria Harbour lies the West Kowloon Cultural District. This 40.1 ha big, former wasteland site will be converted into a first class cultural and arts neighbourhood also comprising housing and office units. Strong attention is drawn to the sustainability of the whole project. Creation of a lively outdoor environment and connection to the surrounding quarters are major aspects to be considered. Werner Sobek consulted the fields of sustainability with microclimate assessment and simulation, environmental impact assessment and sustainable building design concepts, all of which are to be integrated into a holistic urban planning concept for a future development.
