Alfredo Harp Helú Baseball Stadium

Werner Sobek was responsible for the structural engineering of the Alfredo Harp Helú Baseball Stadium in the north-east of Mexico City. The stadium for the local club Diablos was built in an existing sports park and has a capacity of approx. 16,000 visitors.

Exciting Structure, Floating Roof

The U-shaped ground plan is adapted to the shape of the pitch. The stadium tiers were covered with a wide cantilevered roof that – contrary to the orientation of the tiers – seems to float above the stadium in a stringent north-south alignment.

After three years of construction, the Alfredo Harp Helú baseball stadium was opened in summer 2019. Both President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and Mexico’s mayor Claudia Sheinbaum were present at the inauguration on 23 March.
