EXPO Dubai Shades

In October 2021, the EXPO in Dubai finally opened its doors. We are proud that we were able to make a significant contribution to the design of the EXPO site with our large-scale shading systems. Our filigree roof structures connect all the country pavilions on the EXPO site. The structures span a total area of around 96,000 square metres.

Three different shading systems

The systems consist of a movable construction, bird-shaped shading elements and greenery provided by rooted climbing plants. Werner Sobek was responsible for the general planning, the design, the structural and MEP engineering as well as the sustainability concept of the wide-span system.
