Demonstrator at University of Stuttgart Vaihingen

aed Event: Moving Architecture – D1244

The non-profit association aed was founded in 2004 as an initiative of Stuttgart engineers, architects and designers. The aed has set itself the task of promoting creative disciplines under the guiding idea of making design competence visible in Stuttgart. Prof. Werner Sobek was the initiator and is now honorary chairman of the association. In a cooperative event with IBA’27 Friends e.V., the demonstrator, the world’s first adaptive high-rise building, will be presented on Wednesday, 6 April 2022, at 3 p.m. on the university campus in Stuttgart-Vaihingen. Scientists from the University of Stuttgart are investigating how buildings can actively adapt to changing environmental influences under real conditions on a scale of 1:1. In collaboration with the Institute for Lightweight Structures and Conceptual Design (ILEK) and other research institutes at the University of Stuttgart, Werner Sobek played a key role as structural and general planner in the development of this innovative and unique building.
