Around 200 interested people followed a panel discussion with Werner Sobek, Caspar Schmitz-Morkramer and Detlef Kurth in Stuttgart’s Literaturhaus at the end of September 2022. The organiser was the non-profit association aed for the promotion of architecture, engineering and design.
The core topic of the evening was the question of how we can build for the future in the face of rapidly advancing climate change. The moderation was taken over by Boris Schade-Bünsow from Bauweltmagazin.
In this section, Werner Sobek comments in detail on the recycling of building materials. A major problem is posed by buildings from 1965 onwards, whose mix of materials is almost impossible to cope with when they are demolished. Therefore, new technologies have to be developed and new buildings have to be planned now for their later deconstruction.
