New Bridges for Düsseldorf’s Media Harbour

The “Pier One” construction project is being built in Düsseldorf’s Media Harbour: it consists of a platform with two buildings standing on piles in the water of the harbour basin, which will be connected to Düsseldorf’s city centre and the neighbouring industrial harbour by a total of four new, filigree bridges.

In urban planning terms, Pier One represents the consistent further development of the Düsseldorf harbor and the creation of a new public pathway network on the water. Werner Sobek is responsible for the structural design of all four bridges.
