DMK Award for Sustainable Building

The refurbishment project “Sparkasse Gross-Umstadt” has been awarded the DMK Award for Sustainable Building 2016. The refurbished building achieved the extremely economical Passivhaus Standard (EnerPHit) and, moreover, was certified in accordance with DGNB. A monitoring programme is used to optimise operations. Following the renovations, the building emits up to 80% less CO2 and offers the highest levels of comfort for both employees and customers alike. Werner Sobek was not only responsible for structural and facade engineering of this project, but also developed the energy concept and took care of many other sustainability issues such as certification etc.
