As a research partner of DigitalTWIN, a project funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi), we form a forward-looking consortium with globally active partners. Our goal is to support the digitization of the construction industry in Germany through a wide range of activities relating to networking, knowledge transfer, national and European standardization, and the creation of framework conditions for the universal use of digital methods in the construction industry, which is dominated by medium-sized companies. For our research results, we were already honored with a Special Mention at the buildingSMART International Award in 2020.
Now we are happy about another success: In autumn 2020, the BIM Champions competition of buildingSMART Deutschland e.V. was announced for the first time. The association buildingSMART – a competence network for BIM and the digitalization of the construction and real estate industry – awarded the title of BIM Champion 2021 in the first part of the competition. Werner Sobek qualified here in the category “Planning” with the project Kuwait International Airport (KIA) for the final in May 2021. For KIA, we had to create a wide variety of parametric models and develop our own programs in order to be able to master the geometric and structural complexity of the airport from a planning perspective. Thanks to all involved – we are looking forward to the final round with excitement. More information is available here.
