Novo Nordisk Headquarter
The new headquarters of the Novo Nordisk Foundation is a terraced timber building embedded in the varied coastal landscape of Hellerup in Denmark. Werner Sobek AG is responsible for the structural engineering, BIM, MEP, building physics, sustainability and low-carbon lifecycle consulting for this project. With its long, horizontally articulated facades, the structure follows the natural topography and forms a clear connection between city and sea.
Timber and Clay Infill Hybrid Structures
The building features a sustainable structure that allows for flexible use and future adaptability. As one of the first typologies of its kind in Copenhagen, all floors and load-bearing structures will be executed in timber. This includes the cores, which will be timber and clay infill hybrid structures. The energy concept features a full geothermal borehole system, supported by a large-scale roof PV array.
Transitions between interior and exterior spaces are deliberately softened — through continuous verandas and generous openings. Roof gardens on several levels provide both stunning views and pleasant spaces for retreat.
