GSI – Construction of a Multi-Storey Car Park

Our team of engineers at IFT were tasked with providing checking engineering services for a new split-level multi-storey car park that was built using a modular construction system. These services, which also included site supervision as part of the checking engineering process, were carried out on behalf of design review engineer Konrad Hall (Dipl.-Ing. (FH)).

Structural Inspection of a Multi-Storey Car Park

Measuring 28.5 metres in height and featuring a total of 16 parking levels, the multi-storey car park was constructed out of steel with additive floor slabs supported on steel-concrete composite beams. It stands as the tallest building on the campus shared by the internationally renowned GSI Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research and the Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research (FAIR).

With an approximate floor area of 27,000 m² split over nine storeys, the structure provides parking space for more than 800 vehicles.
