Bettrather Straße Bridge
The only way for pedestrians and cyclists to move from Mönchengladbach city centre to the parks and green spaces to the north is by crossing the Bettrather Straße bridge. This old bridge is currently being replaced by a new structure that is designed to provide a different experience to each of its two main groups of users. Pedestrians are invited to cross via level walkways that lead them in a clear, direct route down either side of the bridge. Between these walkways lies a separate cycle route. The bridge’s steel superstructure consists of an airtight welded trough cross-section whose shape is adapted to suit the distribution of loads within the design.
