Good News about Our Aid Project in Harare

From 2013 to 2023, Engineers Without Borders Germany worked with project partners to construct solid, modern and architecturally high-quality buildings for the Rising Star Primary School in Hopley. Werner Sobek AG is also providing financial support for this pioneering school project.

Created in 2005 as part of a forced resettlement programme, this district in the greater Harare area still lacks any infrastructure such as paved roads, electricity, water or sewage systems. In 2010, a neighbourhood initiative initially set up a temporary open-air school so that pupils could at least attend classes under the most basic conditions.

At the beginning of June 2025, as a project partner of Engineers Without Borders, we received the welcome news that the funds needed to expand the school’s sanitary facilities were available and that work could begin.
