Conversion and New Construction during Ongoing Operations – New Headquarters of DRV Baden-Württemberg
Due to high operating costs and the poor structural condition of the old building, Deutsche Rentenversicherung Baden-Württemberg decided to build new headquarters in Stuttgart-Freiberg. The spatial conditions made the planning and logistics of the conversion, new construction and demolition particularly challenging.
The work had to be carried out in two stages, with office operations continuing uninterrupted on site. First, part of the old building was demolished so that the new building could be constructed on the existing supports and foundations of the old building. After all employees had moved into the newly built area, the existing areas were renovated or demolished.
Werner Sobek AG was responsible for structural engineering and construction supervision for this special construction project, which combined building renovation and new construction while the building remained in operation.
